OVERVIEW

Self-employed users need to understand their business finances at a glance — but the existing reports experience was underused, hard to navigate, and not surfaced where users actually spent time. This project redesigned the P&L, income, and expense reporting experience from the ground up, introducing interactive charts with filter controls and a layout that worked across mobile and desktop.

SOLUTION

Simple enough to scan, robust enough to trust

Building a reporting experience meant solving two problems at once — what data to show, and how to make it useful.

I defined the key data points for each report type, prioritizing clarity over comprehensiveness. I designed both a widget view for quick scanning and a full report view for deeper analysis, with advanced filters across date range, pockets, and tags. Every filtered state had defined logic — ensuring the data always reflected exactly what the user asked for. The challenge was finding the right balance between simple and robust: a visual system that felt approachable for everyday use, but could scale to the complexity power users needed.

Reports demonstrated what Found could be when used in its entirety — not just a banking tool, but a complete financial picture for the self-employed. A 40% increase in engagement at launch confirmed the approach, and user feedback highlighted live P&L and expense tracking as standout features.
